Simply said, Personal Soul Mandalas are a visual representation of the energy of the soul. They help my clients embody the resonance of their soul energy as a whole more easily and, by having this energy present in their homes or offices, balance the energy in their lives.
People are curious about how I design a Personal Soul Mandala. My process is quite different than the suppositions people make. I've searched the Internet for years now, hoping to find someone ~ anyone ~ who creates similar mandalas, to no avail. I find it very hard to believe I'm the only person in the world to create mandalas my way, but at a minimum I think I can say that my process is rare.
I use my Reiki understanding of energy to find and connect to the soul energy of my Soul Mandala clients. However, the energy exchange becomes cyclical ~ I focus on the client's energy and the soul sends impressions, intuitions, thoughts back to me throughout the process of creating the mandala. As a result, for many of my clients I'm able to add a bit of a soul reading to the final presentation of the mandala itself.
I use Adobe Illustrator to paint brush strokes and Adobe Photoshop to place the strokes one by one, merging and copying repeatedly to build the frame out from the center. Once the frame is complete, the colors are filled in. Each step of the process is directed by the soul of the client. For the duration of the work, from five days to five weeks, that client's soul imbues my life. It's an intimate experience and a blessed process for me.

Mandala is a Sanskrit word literally meaning circle. However, subtle nuances of the language, as I understand it, also open the definition to include everything from the basic circle to the vastness of all creation.
The circle form has been used as a common symbol since the beginning of humanity. It would appear the circle has always been a reference point for humans in understanding the vast nature of existence.
Mandalas in one form or another seem to be resonant throughout all societies. Because they are so present in our lives, I believe they deserve recognition and attention. They are used cross culturally as tools for prayer, meditation, and contemplation, as well as simple graphic forms of beauty.
My mandalas are rather unique. I use a number of techniques to create my mandalas that I've never found used by anyone else. The result is a mandala with a certain resonance in the past, but holding a purely modern feeling. While there are many mandalas created daily around the world, thus far I've been unable to find anyone else using my particular technique. My conclusion is that my work is remarkably rare.

In the Spiritual Energy series of mandalas I focus on a spiritual principle with the intention of connecting to the resonance of that energy and representing it in the mandala form. The energy exchange becomes cyclical, with the resonance of the spiritual principle guiding every stroke, rotation, color choice, and movement in the mandala. The result is, hopefully, an image that invokes the feel and energy of that principle.

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to suggest that Reiki changed my life completely. I was attuned to Reiki I and II in 1999 after watching injured feral animals with the frustration of knowing I couldn't do anything to help them. Following my training, I was able to send Reiki's glorious healing energy to the animals from a distance. I had no idea the extent to which the rest of my life would be altered.
I became a Reiki master teacher the following year. With this higher level of attunement to the Reiki energy came a higher understanding of all types of energy in and around me. I was able to feel all sorts of energies, both within my physical presence and far away. From this, my present work with Personal Soul Mandalas and Spiritual Energy Mandalas grew.
Reiki helps us grow as humans in this world, both as a healing energy practice and as an understanding of the energies surrounding us. The Reiki knowledge and training were brought to the modern era through Master Mikao Usui (1825 -1926), a Japanese doctor who discovered this technique during a fasting and meditation retreat. In addition to teaching what he had learned of Reiki energy to a number of students, he also taught an approach to life. His approach is embodied in the Reiki Principles.
With gratitude to and respect for Master Usui, I have used his principles as the foundation for the Reiki posters I'm offering here. The principles are simple and a wonderful reminder to all of us of a simple, compassionate manner from which we can address our world.
